Publisher's summary

During his lifetime, legendary martial artist Bruce Lee formulated a complex personal philosophy - a synthesis of Eastern and Western ideals - that extolled the virtues of knowledge and total mastery of one's self. Most of his philosophical writings could be found only within the personal library of the Bruce Lee estate - until John Little was given permission to publish them for the wider world. The Warrior Within is the most comprehensive volume of these teachings, meant to help you apply Lee's philosophies to your own life. This unique guide reveals such life-affirming secrets as how to:

  • See the totality of life and put things into perspective,
  • Understand the concept of Yin and Yang,
  • Defeat adversity by adapting to circumstances, and
  • Tap into inner spiritual forces to help shape the future.

The Warrior Within is an engrossing and easy-to-understand guide to the little-explored world of Bruce Lee.

Wonderful book...don't get caught up in narration

The reviews that focus on the "fake Asian accent" that the narrator sometimes employ during this audiobook are too busy seeing the trees and not the forest...meaning that they are focusing on the method of delivery and not what is being delivered. I too laughed at the accent at first until I realize he was trying to say things as only Bruce Lee could say them to add more weight to what was being said. And for me, it did just that. This is an excellent book that echoes many of my own philosophies of how I view myself in relationship to society, family, friends, my partner and myself. JKD is something that I am going to start following as much as I can and a lot of the philosophy that I picked up from this book regarding Bruce's writings and ideals I will continue to study and learn from. Thank you.

Imitation is the highest form of flattery!

Those hung up on the imitation of Lee's voice need to let go as it's stated in the Tao Te Ching.

Insight to purposeful living

Loved it. Bruce Lee was my childhood hero. Several years later, I got to have an insight of his philosophy and how to find meang in life. The book has a lot of relevance in diversity and self-discovery. Absolutely recommended.

Fascinating!

I've read a number of books about Bruce Lee, but John Little has captured the "Warrior Within" that is Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee was beyond an extraordinary martial artists - he was a true visionary and wise way beyond his years. Having read many books on Buddhism, Buddhist psychology, and other books by spiritual teachers (e.g., Tolle, Watts), it's all that more impressive how wise Lee was. I wished he'd lived longer - but the light that burns twice as bright burns half as long. Oh, Lee shown so very, very brightly.

A masterpiece of thought, action and philosophy.

This book made me rethink my most core principals and offered me a gentler way to think while becoming a stronger individual.

Taoist principals mixed with a unique eastern mixed with western perspective made this a truly special read i will revisit often.

the movies may not have been his greatest accomplishments. the author is an excellent presenter of difficult material.

The fake Chinese accent sounded a bit weird

The Bruce Lee voice for the quotes was a bit over the top at times.
